I just finished erasing a blog post draft that I
was very passionate about. Why? Because I lost the passion when I realized how
negative that blog post was and I had a thought come to my mind; why should I
be spreading negativity? What's the point? Is it going to make anyone feel
better or change anyone for the better? No, the only reason I was writing it was to complain and
mope around.
Sometimes I feel like the human race is prone to
negativity. This is just a general statement. We tend to think about ourselves
a lot and forget about other people's thoughts and feelings. We even forget that
other people even have thoughts or feelings sometimes. We are so egocentric
that it's almost as if we have never learned what compassion, kindness, and service is. We just don't care. Or we
think that everyone is a "hater" and they are out to get us. Just because
someone is wearing a frown doesn't mean they are frowning at you when you make eye
contact with each them. When someone says something unkind, don't take it so
personally. Now I'm not trying to excuse that person, but wouldn't life be so
much better if we responded with positivity?
Positivity is comparable to light and negativity to
the dark. Light invades the darkness. When you turn a light on in a dark room,
the room is illuminated. The light pervades the room. If you are in a dark room
and someone turns the light on in another room, light comes through the gaps
around the frame of the door. Light is more powerful than the darkness. So if we apply basic math, positivity is stronger than negativity. The only time negativity can defeat positivity, is when your light bulb is dim, or your flashlight is low on battery.
I'm just saying that with all the horrible things happening in the world, we should be trying to make other's life's better. And then hopefully they will do the same. It's called good karma. So the next time a classmate or a store clerk gives you a snarky attitude, don't bite back. Respond with kindness. It will make both of your days better instead of leaving you with a bitter feeling. Charge your positivity. Charge your light.
